Full Bio:

Elissa Margolin made her first foray into songwriting during 2008’s international RPM Challenge. Inspired by her guitar and songwriting studies with Chris Weisman (All Songs Considered, NPR), she wrote and released her 2010 debut album, Love AnyWay, produced by Mike Effenberger (Soggy Po’ Boys, Tan Vampires).

Love AnyWay received critical acclaim that noted the exciting mix of complexity and exploration. “Margolin is a classically trained pianist who challenges the bounds of the instrument…  a resounding punctuated play of the keys on a piano, that is surrounded by emanating effects that sort of billow around the chordal structure of the tune.”

A group of the region’s most recognized musicians began to perform and record with Margolin (Mike Effenberger, Nick Phaneuf, Russ Grazier), adding texture and color that resulted in a full alternative band with notable complexity. The collaboration resulted in the release of Fine Line Forming in 2011. The release was called “moving in its serenity, and subtly playful “.

After a final performance of Fine Line Forming at The Middle East in Cambridge, Margolin took to the simplicity of her acoustic guitar, generating an indie-folk sound. She’s been performing her new songs from PIVOT in clubs around the Seacoast with guitarist Tom Brown, double bass player Nate Therrien and accomplished jazz drummer Paul Donahue. PIVOT was released in October 2015.
